A homeowner watches a video, buys a part, and fixes the symptom — and a few weeks later we are pulling out a compressor that did not need to die. This is not an argument that homeowners are careless. It is that AC failures are interconnected in ways that are genuinely hard to see from the outside, and the cost of getting it wrong is high.

The symptom is rarely the cause

A frozen coil is the textbook example. The visible problem is ice; the actual cause might be a dirty filter, a dirty coil, a failing blower, or a refrigerant leak.
